I don't know if it is a good idea to upload a trailer movie to the Flash portal, especially if it's just a low-res video running in an endless loop.
Other than that, looks kind of interesting. For me, the music overpowers the stuff that's happening on the screen because it is so vibrant and powerful.
After watching this, I'm like "that's all"?
Other than a zoom in on a badly drawn pot there is not much to see here.
The animation style does not matter so much to me, but the lack of content does. Next time try to put more effort in before uploading to Newgrounds.
Voice acting could have been better. Even when you have a shitty microphone you can still get some more quality by carefully recording and using filters/volume adjustment, even using free tools like Audacity.
Like sweet21 already noted, the characters should not be transparent.
All in all it feels kind of cheap and the punchline doesn't really get through because of all the little annoyances.
I would like you to read the comments :/
I have said that I didn't intend on too much time being put onto this. I do appreciate the review though :)
Again, I will remake it, voice acting, animation, the jokes, everything, as soon as Adobe doesn't rip me off.
It's a very small, simple game. Can be addicting if you want to beat high scores.
Coins frequently spawn at gaps, impossible to collect without losing a heart.
Speed increases in steps, with altitude 50, 150, 250, ... but this is not explained in the game and comes kind of unexpected when you first start playing.
Music fits the game, but I'm missing credits. Did you make the music yourself, if not: who did?
You should finish it, regardless of whether it is well received or not. The question is, can you
Start with better collision response, then make some more interesting levels. Lose the pills unless you find a way of incorporating them into the game, right now they are useless.
Totally agree, the pills are useless right now but they could be interesting if they were used in puzzles (eg. jump into pit of spikes to grab key, rewind time behind actually hitting the spikes)
Level 38, and still no challenge. I don't have to evade boss bullets, I just keep firing at the head for like 10 seconds and that's it.
Lack of balancing makes this game a waste of time. And that's a pity, because assets are really good and I like the concept of randomly generated bosses.
Thanks for the play and sticking in there. I see what you're saying and realizes after the game was done it can seem quite imbalanced for a skilled player. I'm looking at what can be done going forward and mostly it comes down to addressing these issues in the sequel. I'd love to revisit Boss 101 since i love it but my time will probably be best spent on a sequel with some possible twizzles on Boss 101. I do appreciate you taking the time to write! Best, -Tim
